Harris Corporation: Regional Supplier Quality/Supply Chain Engineer - CHQ09091004

Location: Penang, Malaysia (Consideration limited to local applicants only.)

Job Description:
• Position could potentially be located in either George Town or Bayan Lepas areas.
• Support Corporate and Divisional Sourcing and Supply Chain initiatives by working with procurement, Design Engineering, Manufacturing and management.
• Provide internal technical and supplier quality leadership for Corporate Commodity Teams.
• Be a passionate leader for continuous improvement and Lean events across all commodities
• Lead cross functional teams to implement creative business process improvement solutions across the enterprise
• Benchmark manufacturing processes and drive implementation of best practices
• Provide technical support to multiple levels of executives, managers and/or employees regarding significant and complex issues.
• Create and execute sourcing and supplier development plans where appropriate
• Assist in the development, planning, testing, and modification of manufacturing processes and systems.
• Regularly analyze and evaluate procedures and make modifications.
• Assist in plant consolidations and sourcing transfers
• Where applicable, work with New Product Introduction process to coordinate sourcing strategies and ensure a smooth and timely manufacturing ramp on major new programs
• Team with other functions to ensure that assigned suppliers are capable of new product launches and incremental business growth to meet/exceed customer performance objectives
• Travel approximately 40-65%.
Qualifications:
• BS or MS in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience.
• A minimum of 5-10 years related experience in supplier qualification, quality management and lean manufacturing activities.
• Knowledge of military, aerospace, and commercial markets.
• Knowledge of WEEE and RoHS requirements and implementation.
• Must have analytical, problem solving, team building, strategic planning and change management skills.
• Global Experience Required.
• Must be able to proficiently speak, read & write English in addition to local language.
Preferred Additional Skills:
• Black Belt certification is a plus.
• Highly proficient with MS Office Applications, and knowledge of CAPS Expert, Part Miner, Endeca, or similar programs.
• Highly motivated self-starter, be independent, work with limited supervision, and possess excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to "Challenge the process" in a professional manner to achieve the most cost-effective and efficient business processes and product.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must possess the demonstrated ability to effectively interface and proactively influence internal and external customers, and work independently based upon top-level direction.
• Experience leading and implementing lean manufacturing process changes and realizing/sustaining the benefits from those changes.
• Experience leading Kaizen events or related projects with successful results.
• Experience leading training workshops to teach employees Lean methodologies and tools.
• Strong trouble shooting skills.
• Knowledgeable of innovation in state of the art engineering/manufacturing techniques.
• Experience in manufacturing process auditing.
